Warwick Poppies 2018 - A Community Tribute

What is Warwick Poppies?

St Mary's Church Warwick has a rich and proud history of involvement in military life, through our famous Royal Warwickshire Regimental Chapel and our central role in civic life. It is fitting that we should aim to commemorate the end of the First World War in 1918 through a special event to take place towards the end of 2018. You can find out more about the Warwick fallen of World War I at  https://www.warwickwarmemorial.org.uk/

We are mounting a display of tens of thousands of knitted or handmade craft poppies throughout October and November 2018, donated by members of the congregation and beyond. They will be displayed flowing out from the Regimental Chapel and out into and around Church. It will look spectacular, be very moving, highly topical and enhance our praise and worship at this memorable time.

The display will be in place for the High Sherriff’s Service, the Regimental Service, Remembrance Sunday, Victorian Evening and the Christmas Tree Festival in 2018.

Members of the public visiting the display will be invited to donate to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Church funds.
