Collegium
Collegium was formed by Simon Lole, then Director of Music for the Parish of Warwick, in 1986. From an original membership of twenty-five, the choir now numbers around seventy-five, and meets on Monday evenings during term time to rehearse. After continuing to develop under the directorship of Mark Shepherd, Chris Betts and Katherine Dienes, Thomas Corns became Director of Music in September 2008.
The choir presents three main concerts a year in St Mary's Church, and also takes part in services within the Warwick Team and elsewhere. It has engaged in a variety of other activities, including a recent visit to Germany, and worked with a number of orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Symphonic Winds and Warwick Symphony Orchestra.
Over the years, Collegium has tackled a wide variety of styles of music from many different composers, ranging from short unaccompanied pieces to large-scale works with full orchestra.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please observe a rehearsal on a Monday evening at 7.45pm in St Mary's Church or contact the Collegium Secretary.
